Interview - This Sudden Injury

We caught up with the guys in This Sudden Injury a few weeks back and had a chat with Luke, Jake, James, Alex and Pete, here’s what they had to say…

For those who don’t know who TSI are head over to this page to get acquainted, http://www.facebook.com/ThisSuddenInjury?sk=info

(Q) So for those who don’t know the band introduce yourselves and the band…

(Luke) Were This Sudden Injury, I’m Luke and I sing.

(Jake) I’m Jake I play guitar and also do vocals.

(Pete) I’m Pete I play drums.

-Other members walk in later.

(Q) If you could sum the band up in one sentence what would it be?

(Luke) Passionate honest music

(Jake) That’s about it really; we do it because we love it! What about you Pete?

(Pete) Ditto.

(Q) The EP has been out for a while now, what has the response been like?

(Luke) Yeah it’s been good,We gave it away for free, so it reached a lot of people and a lot of people linked it around and to be honest we wouldn’t of been able to get out on tour if we didn’t do it that way.

(Pete) We made some really cool friends by this, because we gave it away for free it’s obviously a lot easier for people to get a hold of it and that allowed us to go all around the country and meet so many new people.

(Jake) From my point of view everything should be given away for free at first, because nobody knows who you are and no one will want to risk their money on a CD when they might as well just throw it at merch.

(Q) What was the inspiration for the EP?

(Luke) We didn’t really sit down and say let’s write an EP, we just said lets write some songs you know?

(Jake) But mainly it was mine and yours (Luke) experiences.

-Rest of the band walks in.

(Q) How do you find touring?

(Luke) It’s the best of the worst.

(James) You eat fucking nothing!

(Alex) And you shit a lot.

(Pete) Just meeting new people that we would not have met and we’ve done so much stuff that we wouldn’t have done if we weren’t in this band.

(Luke) It’s been great going round the country and playing new towns and big cities that we’ve never been to and I just can’t wait to play more of these places and maybe even go abroad.

(James) It’s good going to new places and seeing kids sing our songs and we’ve never met them before it’s just unbelievable.

(Q) Any embarrassing tour stories?

(Luke) You know where the phrase “What happens on tour stays on tour” comes from when you’ve actually toured, because it’s just been crazy! We went on tour with the craziest guys we’ve ever met, A Fate Untold and there’s just some stuff I never really want to think about ever again.

(Q) What’s your biggest pet hate?

(Luke) Jake Bowman.

(Alex) Jake Bowman.

(James) Poor guy. I think it’s just waiting to play, I hate waiting.

(Alex) I guess the worst part is the travelling, when it’s like day 5 in and you haven’t had a shower and not slept in a proper bed. But I guess that just part of it.

(Pete) Mine is traffic. When were sitting outside a town were playing in and there’s nothing but traffic. I hate that.

(Jake) Mine is toilets in some places.

(Alex) That could be an embarrassing story!

(Luke) Alex was busting for the toilet and I saw him go into the women’s and there was this poor posh lady standing there waiting and the look on her face when he opened the door and came out was priceless.

(Q) When you first met each other what were your first impressions?

(Jake) Ah I hated Luke!

(Luke) Yeah we didn’t really get along.

(Jake) In my first band I played alongside him for his bands EP release. We just didn’t seem to get on and then he asked me to join the band.

(Luke) The way we started this band, me and Gooding wanted a new band and I’d seen Jake play a lot with TenYears and I knew he was a really energetic performer and a cool guy so I needed to get him on board. Pete I knew from his old band but I knew he really wanted to be in a band. But I just think we all knew each other really.

(Q) Something you’re addicted to?

(Pete) Drums.

(Jake) World Of Warcraft.

(Luke) Football Manager.

(Alex) Life.

(James) The Beach Boys and Mountain Dew.

(Q) What are your plans for the rest of the year?

(Luke) Touring, recording and playing music and just hoping someone turns up.

(James) GET WASTED!

(Luke) That too.
